MedAssets Supply Chain Systems and Varian Medical Systems Renew Supply Agreement for Medical Technology

PALO ALTO, Calif., March 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Varian Medical Systems, Inc. (NYSE: VAR) and MedAssets Supply Chain Systems today announced they have renewed a long-standing agreement under which Varian will offer MedAssets' customers advanced technologies for treating cancer and neurological conditions. The contract covers Varian's state-of-the-art equipment and software for radiation therapy as well as for neurosurgery, and includes products for delivering image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT) and stereotactic radiosurgery.

The three-year contract covers the full spectrum of Varian's products for delivering radiotherapy and neurosurgery, including the Clinac® and Trilogy™ linear accelerators; the On-Board Imager™ and RPM™ respiratory gating devices for delivering adaptive, image-guided radiotherapy; Eclipse™ treatment planning software; VARiS® and ARIA™ oncology information systems; Acuity™ simulators; and SonArray™ ultrasound imagers for patient positioning. It also includes Varian's VariSource™ and GammaMed™ products for brachytherapy, a cancer-treatment technique that involves placing radioactive sources directly into the targeted tumor.
