Varian Medical Systems Ranks First in Overall Manufacturer and Service Performance in 2015 Survey of Radiation Oncology Professionals

PALO ALTO, Calif., Oct. 8, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Varian Medical Systems (NYSE: VAR) has been ranked first in overall manufacturer and overall service performance in the ServiceTrak™ Imaging 2015 report on radiation oncology accelerator manufacturers published by IMV, Ltd.  IMV rates manufacturers' performance on the basis of telephone interviews with customers in various medical technology sectors.

Varian ranked first in five out of eight of the manufacturer performance attributes covered by this year's survey, taking the top rating in:

  • Overall manufacturer performance
  • Probability of repurchase
  • Ability to drive industry standards
  • Value of system documentation
  • Overall OEM training program

 

Varian also ranked first in five out of six OEM service performance attributes covered in the survey, taking the top rating in these categories:

  • Current service arrangements meets needs
  • Overall service performance
  • Service follow-up
  • Availability of replacement parts
  • OEM preventative maintenance program
  • Effective escalation by service team

 

"This year's IMV report shows Varian with a steady increase in net promoter score, which is a measure of how likely a customer would be to recommend our technology to a colleague," said Kolleen Kennedy, president of Varian Oncology Systems.  "It was particularly gratifying to see our net promoter score climb significantly among customers with our newer products.  Customers with systems less than two years old gave us a 55 percent net promoter score.  It is an affirmation of the investments we have made in our technology, as well as in enhancements to our service organization."

Over 74 percent of respondents indicated a high probability of repurchasing from Varian—a full ten points above the industry average of 64 percent.
