External Beam Radiation Treatments

Varian helps to advance radiation treatments by developing technology that enables clinicians to treat with stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), volumetric modulated radiation therapy (VMAT), intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and proton therapy (IMPT), image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT) and RapidArc radiotherapy.

SRS

SRS

SRS treatments use high precision, accuracy, and sophisticated 3D imaging to deliver a concentrated dose of radiation in a single treatment. It is most commonly used for the brain or central nervous system (CNS).
SABR / SBRT
Stereotactic Ablative Radiotherapy (SABR) or Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT) is emerging as an attractive option for treating cancers in the lung, head and neck, prostate, and liver.
IMRT
IMRT uses 3-D scans of your body to guide the beams of radiation to the tumor from many different angles and "paints" the radiation dose onto the tumor with pinpoint precision.
IGRT
Image guided radiotherapy (IGRT) provides high-resolution, three-dimensional images to pinpoint tumor sites, adjust patient positioning when necessary, and complete a treatment—all within the standard treatment time slot.
VMAT
Volumetric Arc Therapy (VMAT) or RapidArc® Radiotherapy Technology is an advanced form of IMRT that delivers a precisely-sculpted 3D dose distribution with a 360-degree rotation of the gantry in a single or multi-arc treatment.
