Pink Ribbon Day brought Varian Finland staff together

Kari Toimela, Managing Director:

Me kaikki Varianilla teemme tärkeää työtä myös heidän eteensä.

Varian continues to co-operate with Finnish Cancer Foundation for the second year now. We both work for similar goals and vision. Cancer Foundation wants that no one would die of cancer and we want to have a world without fear of cancer.

This year we are donating to the Pink Ribbon campaign and as part of that, we decided to buy the ribbons for our staff and gather together for a nice breakfast to deliver them. This way we can express moral support for women with breast cancer. We all at Varian work hard also for patients with womens´cancer.

Roosa nauha -kampanja on minulle tärkeä, sillä tätini kuoli rintasyöpään.

The Pink Ribbon Campaign is very important for me, my aunt died of breast cancer. In South America, where I come from, women are very shy. They go seldom to examinations and often too late. So, I wear the ribbon for my aunt.

It is good to see, that so many organizations are supporting the campaign! I have been thinking about charity work lately, I would like to do more.

Antti Yrjölä, Senior Manager RA&QA:

Tiimini koostuu neljästä naisesta. Olen jo parina aiempana vuonna ostanut heille Roosa nauhat.

I have a team of four ladies. I have bought them all the Pink Ribbon couple of years already. At Varian it is one of the basic themes that the field where the solutions will be used is important to us. It was one of the main reasons why I wanted to work here.

Joakim Pyyry, Systems Architecture Director:

We are trying to figure out, how we could make our technology so simple that it would be accessible for anyone in the world. The amount of cancer patients is growing, we need to respond to that.

Our focus is of course on the patient. It is good to think about them, when we hear stories of the patients, we face the meaning of our work.
