Xiao Zhang, PhD
Senior Vice President & President, Varian Greater China
Dr. Xiao Zhang was appointed Senior Vice President and President of Greater China in 2019. In this role, Dr. Zhang oversees business operations in mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau.
Dr. Zhang joined Varian in 2013 as the Managing Director for Varian China to oversee Oncology, Proton Therapy, and Imaging Component Business. In 2014, he was promoted to Vice President and Managing Director for Greater China prior to being promoted to his current role.
Dr. Zhang previously worked at General Electric Company (GE) for 20 years. During his tenure at GE, Dr. Zhang had been in various global senior leadership roles including GE Plastics, GE Advanced Materials, and GE Healthcare. Dr. Zhang also worked at Oak Ridge National Laboratory for 6 years as a Senior Scientist prior to joining GE.
Dr. Zhang earned a PhD degree in Solid State Physics/Material Sciences and a MS degree in Material Sciences from University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He also earned an Executive MBA from University at Albany, SUNY.
