Beware of Job Scams

At Varian, your interest in our career opportunities is important to us as well as keeping your information protected. As you conduct your job search, please beware of fraudulent job scams aimed to target individuals to disclose financial or personal information. Be sure to confirm the job posting is authorized by Varian Medical Systems through our website before proceeding. If you think you are victim to fraudulent activity, please visit the Federal Trade Commission website where you can report suspicious activity.

Warning signs for identifying fraudulent jobs:

  • The communications you receive are unprofessional – they contain poor grammar and/or typos.
  • Job seekers who are contacted by a Varian recruiter should always ask for the recruiter’s Varian e-mail address. All Varian email addresses end in “@Varian.com”.
  • You are asked to participate in a job interview online through an instant messaging application. (Note: Varian does NOT conduct job interviews through instant messaging services).
  • You are asked to provide financial information such as a credit card number or bank account information. (Note: Varian will NEVER ask a job applicant or a new hire to make payments or provide financial information such as credit card or bank account information).
  • You are told they will send you a check to pay for equipment to set up your home office.
    • The check they send you may not be on a Varian account.
    • They then may ask you to deposit the check, buy a gift card, and call them with the gift card number so they can use a “third-party vendor” to send you the equipment for a home office.
  • The description of the position is vague or unclear, with little to no detail about the job requirements or responsibilities.
  • The offer letter is on letterhead that does not look professional.
  • With very little interview activity, you are presented with an offer of employment. You will have more interaction, and the offer process will be formal.
