World Cancer Day 2020

Find out how all of us—individually and collectively—can do our part to help reduce the global burden of cancer.

What is World Cancer Day?

World Cancer Day is an annual initiative of the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) to unite the world under the single theme of highlighting the ongoing fight against cancer.

Why is World Cancer Day Important?

Cancer is the second leading cause of death, responsible for 1 in 6 deaths globally. The global cancer burden continues to grow, with an anticipated 25 million new cases by the year 2030. World Cancer Day aims to save millions of preventable deaths each year by raising awareness and offering education about the disease, and encouraging governments, organizations, and individuals across the world to take action.

How can I participate?

The UICC has set up a World Cancer Day website with lots of ideas about how you can participate. This year’s theme is “I Am and I Will.” You can download materials to add your voice to the fight. Learn more about World Cancer Day on their website.

You can follow the World Cancer Day campaign and conversation on Facebook and Twitter, and follow Varian’s voice on Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter.
