RapidArc | Image Gallery
The RapidArc® technology image gallery contains treatment planning images for many different clinical cases. Individual images may be enlarged by double clicking on the image, opening in a separate browser window. The RapidArc cases can be filtered by treatment site or viewed as an entire library using the "Display All" selection in the drop down menu. Descriptions of the images are presented when the mouse cursor is placed over the images, or when the images are enlarged.
Filter:Adenocarcinoma of the Right Upper Lung
Patient treated with one RapidArc arc with 10MV energy with 688MU. Total dose 3000cGy and daily dose 300cGy.
This patient had a fixed node in the supraclavicular area that needed radiation therapy. The patient also had previous lung radiotherapy, so the critical structures were of particular concern. Therefore, a RapidArc treatment was the best option to achieve coverage and spare critical structures.

Basal Cell Carcinoma with Muscle Invasion
Patient treated with two RapidArc arcs with 6MV energy and 561MU total. Total dose 6600cGy and daily dose 200cGy.
Basal cell carcinoma invaded the muscle. Critical organ for this case is the spinal cord. A bolus was used to move the high dose away from the spinal cord and improve target coverage.

Spindle Cell Sarcoma of the Scalp
Patient was treated with two RapidArc arcs with 6MV energy and 585MU total. Total dose 5940cGy and daily dose 180cGy.
A bolus was used to bring up the high dose to the scalp; this RapidArc plan provided better dose distribution than a typical electron plan.

Lung Metastases
Patient was treated with two RapidArc arcs with 6MV energy and 2539MU total. Total dose 4000cGy and daily dose 800cGy.
The spine and esophagus were of great concern. Each PTV had a 30cc volume.

Malignant Neoplasm of the Peritoneum
Patient treated with two RapidArc arcs with 10MV energy and 383MU total. Total dose 4500cGy and daily dose 180cGy.
A RapidArc plan was chosen vs. a two or four field plan because of the location of the tumor. Critical structures were both right and left kidneys, spinal cord, and the bowel. The dose needed was achieved, while sparing the organs at risk by using RapidArc.

Adenocarcinoma of the Prostate
Patient treated with two RapidArc arcs with 6MV energy and 607MU total. Total dose 7560cGy and daily dose 180cGy.
The critical structures of concern were the bladder, rectum and both femoral heads. A RapidArc conforms to the PTV while maintaining doses at a minimum to the critical structures.

Metastatic Renal Cell Carcinoma - Paraspinal and Rib Mass
Patient treated with two RapidArc arcs with 10MV energy and 615MU total. Total dose 3000cGy and daily dose 300cGy.
For this particular patient the best option was a double RapidArc to avoid overdosing the spinal cord and the left lung. Other critical structures used in the optimization were the heart, both right and left kidneys and the total lung volumes.

Multiple Brain Metastases
Patient treated with two RapidArc arcs with a total of 1955MU. Total dose 21Gy in 3 fractions.
This patient had a primary lung tumor with 7 brain metastases with volumes ranging from 0.7 to 25 cubic centimeters.
