Hardware Specifications

Eclipse, Varian's treatment planning system, requires that computer equipment and operating system software be purchased from Varian. When computer equipment and operating system software is purchased from Varian, it is warranted under the standard Varian maintenance contract.

Since it is impossible for Varian to test and qualify hardware for every computer vendor hardware and configuration, Varian will not be responsible to service and support hardware that is not purchased from Varian.

Eclipse 8.x Upgrade Computer Requirements

Client Workstations:
  • Windows XP operating system.
  • The HP Kayak, Dell 330 and Dell 530 will need to be replaced. These computers are all over three years old and insufficient for this version.
  • Eclipse SV or VX can run on a Dell 650 as is. Existing GX280 and GX620 are sufficient for non-calculation computers (Eclipse SV).
  • Eclipse Calculation Workstations require either the Dell T5400, 370, 470, or the 490, all with Dual Processors and 4GB RAM.
  • For standalone (Single Workstation Configuration) with is own database, computer must be at least a Dell 370 (supplied from Europe or otherwise supplied by Varian in accordance with European Eclipse platform standards) or a Dell 470 (supplied by US or otherwise supplied byVarian in accordance with US Eclipse platform standards).
Servers:
  • Sites with more than one client require a dedicated server for Varian applications with server class hardware and operating systems.
  • To enable the server upgrade process, there must be free hard drive space equal to the size of the Sybase folder on the existing Server.
