BrachyVision for Treatment Planning

BrachyVision™ 3D treatment planning system is a comprehensive workstation that fully supports brachytherapy treatment planning needs, including rules-based dose optimization, unprecedented conformal dose capabilities and true 3D, image-based planning.

In brachytherapy procedures, the time it takes to produce a plan is critical. Unique features such as DoseShaper™ allow you to shape dose with the cursor. To help you obtain the optimal dose distribution, BrachyVision features a rich suite of tools and an easy tabbed workflow.

As part of the ARIA™ family of products, BrachyVision offers a common interface and tools for users of Varian systems, as well as having the advantage of being able to access existing patient records and images from the shared database. Main features of BrachyVision include:

  • Extensive use of multi modality 3D data sets such as CT, MR and PET.
  • Image acquisition via digitizer, film scanner, DICOM 3 or ultrasound. 2D or 3D images can also be acquired directly from Acuity™.
  • The ability to create digitally reconstructed radiographs (DRRs).
  • The same contouring, image registration and evaluation workspaces that are available on the Eclipse™ external beam treatment planning system. This provides an extensive range of tools that are unmatched by any other brachytherapy planning system.
  • An intuitive auto detection routine that speeds the process of applicator detection. The user also has the ability to manually reconstruct the applicator using arbitary planes within the 3D image set.
  • Library applicators and complete template plans, including dose distributions, that can be easily stored and retrieved. This makes it simple to use the same plan on multiple patients.
  • Clinical protocols that can be used to standardize plans by automatically defining the structures, doctor's objectives and optimization objectives. These protocols can also include a plan template.
  • A variety of dose optimization methods which may be used alone or in combination to obtain the optimal dose plan.
  • Advanced dose visualization features that help accurately determine the dose on any structure with the use of surface dose mapping.
  • The plan evaluation workspace makes it easy to evaluate two plans side by side and sum doses from multiple plans, including external beam plans. It One plan can be subtracted from another to view the differences.
  • Administration functions help identify source models, afterloader characteristics, and pre-defined applicators and templates for HDR, PDR, and LDR treatment plans.
